  1. Most gangster/mafia movies are hyped to cult status in several languages and cultures all over the world. There is no "art" in this. I have seen several adaptations and direct copies of The Godfather. In several 3rd world countries, mafiosos are given a celeb status by the populace and the media too. The inane and the irrational rules most cinema.

  2. Remember, that some people think that the place they live in is their craddles and their graves, so of course they will try to change the place they live in.

Tibet has been a cauldron for many magic potions. History has been witness to that. So is Kashmir. And several more. I have been there. I live in China at the moment for my business.

There is fear so potent, it hits you in the face. China is a whole new ball game when you see it from inside. The way the mind is destroyed in its formative years - well, those in "power" have made a profession of doing precisely that.

Seeing things in the right perspective makes a difference. I do not think most folks talking here are qualified to comment on it without actually knowing what's going on - you can merely guess!

  3. Is there any rational reason for this to happen?

I've began falling in love with my own culture(israeli), although the country was founded with heavy socialist ideals. The language also is the result of the religion and lots of the culture is affected by it.

Happens too often in countries and regions with socialist democratic leanings. Nationalist tendencies are taught and encouraged.

  4. I'm a college student. I have a room (not in a dorm - my very own!) and also an office. Both have blank, white walls.

Basically, I'm looking for recommendations on good posters I can buy to put on the walls (hopefully, posters that I can order online).

I don't know of any good Objectivist-themed posters, so those would be most welcome. Also, anything Romantic art-related. Or just what any of you find appealing - from what I've gathered, most regular participants on this forum have very good taste. :)

If anyone has any suggestions, please make a post! Even if some of the suggestions aren't ideal for me, they may come in handy for some other college-aged people on this forum.

Also, if anyone has any good advice on cheaply decorating rooms in general, let us know. (Unfortunately, I can't afford prints of the sort Sophia has linked to several times - yet).
