  1. Do not confuse your college experiences with real life. Many of those smart asses will get slapped back into reality when they graduate, and are expected to do more than just try to be funny.

Face it, thinking about stuff in these terms (those of one who is philosophically oriented) is sometimes difficult. Most will avoid such labors. Those that don't will determine the future path of humanity.

  2. ...

Maybe money velocity is down because people are uncertain during the era of a government that could do anything because it rejects the general principles of property rights and the free market! But to Bernanke it's a money problem - because there's a graph for that!

When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail. So it is with monetarists, I believe. <_<

  3. In what I read of it the biggest red flag was the claim that the number had been previously issued to someone else, deceased. SS#s don't get reissued. If true that would be problematic.

I could be FOS, but I believe I read that they do get reissued after a given period of "fallow". This likely would only happen in particularly populous states. Non-authoritative, YMMV.

  4. I wonder if they took the bike racks away as well. Given that most bike racks are tubular steel of a larger diameter than the bikes themselves, that would seem to be a much more advantageous place to hide a bomb than the bikes.

Sorry, this was a stupid and ill-conceived move by the NYPD/Secret Service/whoever.

  5. ... The scuttlebutt is that the closing of those dealerships is hurting Republicans disproportionately to Democrats. Turns out that most independent dealerships are run by Republicans and are often in Republican districts. So the claim is that closing those dealerships is politically motivated, especially since at least some of those dealerships were highly profitable even in today's economic climate. Of course, since the foxes are running the hen house, they will claim that it wasn't politically motivated.

This is interesting. Do you have some background on this?

  6. Tey reading it in the context of the enumerated material. Failing thattry expanding either your horizons or your mentality

The person before you seemed not to have a problem. with my main propositions

The person before Kendall had a problem, but seemed to translate it properly.

Kendall has a point - your writing style seems to be of one who is trying to be clever rather than clear. Additionally, your penchant for typos and strange grammar also tend to detract from your message. If you are trying to impart a view, all that "gilding of the lily" is unnecessary.

  7. ...

Meanwhile time grinds slowwwwwwwwwly by towards late August and the retrun of real Football.

I am soooooooo with you there.

I also concur on the season length. It is a rare athlete that can survive a whole season now. More "real" games will all-but guarantee more injuries.

  8. I don't think China would take too kindly to N. Korea being blown off the map. :(

All the more reason for them to rein him in, no?

Post-9/11, any attack MUST be answered swiftly and with extreme malice. Any leader that tries to "parse" a response will become instantly marginalized. They wouldn't dare risk that.

  9. I don't have any specific investment advise to give, especially after losing money in a bull market, but to give an indication of how difficult it is to forecast the market, almost two weeks ago a friend of mine got a professional alert that the market was going to tank big time -- and it has been up ever since. So, if you can find a way to make money in the stock market, my hat is off to you :D

Indicators (mostly in the bond market) are still pointing to a big-time dip in the stock market. What we have now is a bear market rally - merely a bump in the road down.

I, too, am investing a small amount in gold, but only a small amount. What I see is more of a deflationary event on the horizon. If correct, gold will drop in value (along with everything else but cash). So the gold is merely a hedge.

FWIW, I am also investing in a firearm and some ammo. Also a hedge going the other way.
