  1. 3. Objectivism politically advocates Capitalism which doesn't mean we want an elitist society we just want everyone to be free even the geniuses and creators (not to be slaves to the 'society'). The result of true Capitalism is a meritocracy.

    I don't think so...

    -ocracy also -cracy [in nouns]

    PGPP government by a particular sort of people or according to a particular principle:

    democracy (=government by the people)

    meritocracy (=government by people with the most ability)

  2. The lady was obviously trying to smear Ayn Rand and her philosophy by saying, "The Ayn Rand Occult", but Ayn Rand didn't really give a response to her other than saying "Why would you come on my show?". It seemed strange to me. There are certainly individuals who act like "mindless worshippers of Ayn Rand" but that to me is a personal problem and says nothing about Ayn's philosophy, her intentions, or herself. From what I've read of Objectivism so far it teaches quite the opposite of being "mindless". Why do you think Ayn Rand couldn't really answer the lady?

  3. I'm not very familiar with prayer, but if I was reading about people praying I would want to know what is going on inside the minds of the faithful,

    My mom cries at sermons sometimes and she isn't even that religious.

    I will say that they experience a wave of emotion(obviously) and that the prayer is only part of it. The context is the bigger trigger of those people crying and running around. If you're at a potentially emotionally charged event (wedding, funeral, etc..) the emotion is already there being held in.

    But if someone (who has a strong connection to the person/people/event such as a Pastor/relative /friend) get up and say something touching it ups the emotion even more and if they say the right things, they'll set someone off.

    So it's not the prayer, but what the prayer means to that situation or what the prayer signals is about to happen.

  4. I believe that we have fixed aptitude. For example, we can clearly improve our mathematical ability through practice, but some people clearly progress much faster than others given the same amount of practice. This is genetic supreriority.

    No, it's not.

  5. I was grown to be a Christian. I will help you:

    Our Father, which is in heaven,

    Let Be holy Your name,

    Let Your kingdom come,

    Let your will be

    In the Earth as in the heaven.

    Give us our daily bread today

    And forgive us our sins,

    Just like we forgive us to our sinners.

    And do not allow us to be seduced,

    But save us from the evil. Amen

    I believe in the almighty God,

    Creator of Heaven and Earth;

    And to Jesus Christ,

    His direct son, our Lord,

    Which started from the holy spirit,

    Was born from Virgin Mary,

    Suffered near Poncius Pilot,

    Was nailed to the cross,

    Died and buried;

    Went to Hells;

    In the third day, resurrected himself;

    And stepped into heaven,

    Is sitting in the right of the Almighty God,

    From there he will come to judge the dead and the living ones.

    I believe in Holy Spirit,

    Holy global church,

    Interacting of the saints,

    Forgiveness of sins,

    Body's resurrection from the death

    And the eternal life.

    In Lithuania, those to are the most popular ones.

    Here is a popular one in America

    God Is Great, God Is Good, Let Us Think Him For Our Food, I forgot the rest.

  6. I agree with Jaskn that models are at the top. But I'll show one of my own models. His name is Aaron and I saw him at the gym one night and just walked up to him and asked him if he would like to model for me.

    This doesn't add to the discussion, but my mom just walked in my room while I was looking at this thread basically making me look like a...well... nvm.

  7. I think certain temperaments/personalities naturally are learners. Einstein isn't the only one who came from an unremarkable background, Da Vinci( The Renaissance Man) came from an unimpressive background as well. The list could go on and on...

  8. Do you guys think that you can be a master at more than one thing?

    Say for instance do you think that it is possible for you to be a master at playing the piano but also get all A's in business courses at school? Or be a star athlete(set records) but also be the Valedictorian of your class? Are you awesome(not just good) at more than one thing? Can you name anybody who is the best at more than one area?

    I'm kind of reminded of the "The Jack Of Trades But Master Of None" saying.

  9. I don't want to wait for an atheist to come along.

    I see a bunch of claims on this board about how a Christian and an Objectivist(Atheist is too broad of a term) can have romantic relations but I don't see how. How can an avid Church goer and an Objectivist be in a successful relationship? I don't want to control them or come across like I'm trying to change them and I don't want them to try to control or try to manipulate me. The few girl that I like is christian and goes to church.
