  1. I look forward to this game. Anti-Oist or not (I didn't perceive it to be that way), Bioshock was one of my favorite games of all time.
  2. You're correct, I was mistaken. I was most likely just being paranoid.
  3. I don't know how it'll be, but this author seems to be of the impression that Rand is responsible for the mess we're in. "The books have attracted three generations of readers, shaped the foundation of the Libertarian movement, and influenced White House economic policies throughout the Reagan years and beyond." Bold added.
  4. You're right. Reminds me of that quote.
  5. Yes but it's referring to Ayn Rand fans and O'ists as sheeple, not the mainstream of people.
  6. I think you're looking too deep into it. I saw it as a cheap shot at Oism, calling Oists "Sheeple" (see title), and unthinking.
  7. http://xkcd.com/610/ Note the title, and roll over the image for the uncanny reference. I am disappointed, really. Even updated my almost-never updated blog about it. http://progressofcivilizationblog.blogspot...tting-xkcd.html
  8. Very good point. She spent that time taking that class and she deserves the credit for it.
  9. Still has the whole "what if they're from Britain or anywhere non-US?" counter-argument going. Just shorten it to "Black"?
  10. Cornel West also was one of the two people participating in--and talking much more than the other man, New Age-ist Ken Wilber--the "philosophical commentary" in the trilogy. In the commentaries, he claims to be close friends (they both do, IIRC) with the Wachowski Brothers. I have watched it a few times, a long time ago, back when I was first getting into philosophy. Comes in the "Ultimate Matrix Collection". I have it.
  11. Although not a huge fan of the show, I was reminded of this clip. http://tinyurl.com/ann2fb
  12. "I drew Norman Borlaug, so it looks like I win. Actually, we all win."
  13. ARCHNblog = "Ayn Rand Contra Human Nature" is a BS site anyway.
  14. Here's a better question: why would you want to be with someone who cheated on you?
  15. Ft. Lauderdale, to be specific. I'll be there then.
  16. Great reply, Zip. Mr. Paul McKeever also sent a letter in, which I liked quite a bit: http://letters.salon.com/tech/htww/2009/06...0cc2ce6e0e.html Got a good chuckle out of this part:
  17. And he was also assisting helping keep Galt hostage, even though he was not an immediate threat himself. That's like the police capturing the driver of a group of bank robbers while they're in the bank. It's perfectly moral, because he was assisting in the initiation of force.
  18. I hear "America's Great Depression" by Murray Rothbard is pretty good. LINK
  19. I often find myself thinking "what is wrong with these people?!?" And then remember that I *do* know what's wrong with them.
  20. Not if production = profit. If a steel company owns a mass amount of resources and produces nearly no steel, not anywhere enough to make a profit, just a few tons, it's not really production because they used up resources trying to create it.
  21. I edited my post to clarify.
  22. Production = Profit Economics 101: Profit = Income - Expenses or Profit = What you get back - What you payed So to put it in a medium of exchange: If it costs $10000 to execute business plan X, and plan X gives you back $10000, nothing is produced and there is no profit. If you get back $20000, you have a profit. If you get back $5000, you have a deficit. If you do ANYTHING and it costs you more (financially, emotionally, time-wise, in any sense) than it does than you get in return, then you have a deficit. I believe this has to do with the "trader principle".
