Has anyone read or heard the statement on molecular transistors (ie consisting of only a few molecules) from a chemist at the National Institute of Nanotechnology in Alberta. He claims that he and a team of engineers have developed a process for producing transistors that require only 1 electron of current passing through them to activate the transistors (as opposed to 1 million). If this statement is valid it would be an amazing feat for microelectronics. We could have computer chips hundreds of times faster than today operating at room temperature. The potential is amazing. I just hope the technology reaches the commercial market. I would love to work with technology like this in the future.

An Objectivist From Ottawa
MindBlaZe replied to MindBlaZe's topic in Introductions and Personal Notes
The member's name is meganfiala and i noticed the forum while i was over at her house. I like the topics discussed on the forum, but i wish there were more things on science and technology. Maybe ill just start some treads myself . -
Hi, I am an Electrical engineer in the making at the University of Ottawa. I discovered Objectivism a little over two years ago when a friend of mine from Toronto lent me her copy of Atlas Shrugged (she also showed me this forum, but that was way later). I am very happy to have been introduced to Ayn Rand's philosophy as it has answered so many questions, many of which I had never thought to ask myself. It was sooo refreshing to read novels where some of the heros were brilliant engineers and scientists. It made me proud to study engineering. I'm going into third year at Ottawa U in the fall and would love to know if there are any objectivists that go to that school. If your out there let me know. It'd be nice to talk to someone rational for once. I can't wait to catch up on all the discussions that go on here.
