Experience with Objectivism
I discovered Ayn Rand when taking a philosophy course in college. The professor was asked about her and he said if Ayn's name was mentioned again in this course that that student would automatically fail. The Library at Maryland University, where Edwin Locke teaches, did not have any books of hers. The card catalogue listed multiple titles, but none were returned, and all were all signed out. Amazon wasn't created yet so I searched some book stores and nobody had any books. This was shortly after Ayn left us and the schism began so getting anything on Ayn was virtually impossible. There was a postcard that you could mail in after a friend found me Atlas in an old bookstore in central Pennsylvania that I mailed in to some address in NY but never received a reply. It seemed to take forever until I finally found out about the local WAOC group in Maryland. After attending Second Renaissance conferences and others in the late 80s and 90s I can say I've read everything by Ayn and 90% of Dr. Leonard Peikoff's works.

Association Of Objectivist Businessmen

The aob.biz link above doesn't work. Does this organization still exist as I'd love to join as an owner of a naturopathic health store? -
Any Objectivists in the Florida Panhandle?
HerbdocJon replied to goldstandard's topic in Other Places
Hi, I live in the Kendall area of Miami and am seeking like-minded individuals to meet. Let's do lunch and talk. I was a member of the DC group--WAOC-- last century before I moved to CA. I'd even be willing to host a movie night for one of Ayn's movies. I do visit the Keys occasionally for the restaurants and boating fun. 305-735-2428--leave a message as I don't answer the phone unless I recognize the caller ID. Let's ride the bike trail that goes nearby my home close to Dadeland mall on the 88 or 94--still getting used to numbered names instead of actual names here in Miami. I've attended Second Renaissance conferences and others in the late 80s and 90s--I've met most of the major philosophers and would love to share my experiences and notes from the lectures. -

I was recently reading a 1993 Reality magazine and a classified ad in the rear mentioned a gay and lesbian group in Ontario Canada that doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Is there still a group like this around to join? Facebook has an Objectivist group in Florida but they never reply in the group. If other objectivists would like to get together in Miami, Florida I’d love to meet you. [email protected] and hopefully see you soon.
