Great Quotes - Post your Favorite Quotations
01503 replied to the tortured one's topic in Miscellaneous Topics
Bumping this thread, in lieu of the other thread created. I am a quote aficionado, so I'll have quite a few. Some more will come to mind and I will post them here. -Lazarus Long, Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlein When asked to "explain how deep squats won't screw up your femur/hips," so the person posting could explain it to his friend who believes that deep squats are harmful: -Mark Rippetoe Let's keep this thread going! -
Actually, I did a quick search for validity just before I saw your post, and it is indeed made-up. However, I suggest you give this speech to your employees.

Thanks for the post. Might email this to a few people.

I was told earlier today that his religion should not be a factor at all, because he was obviously a nutcase. However, in light of some condemning information, I think it has become undeniable that Islam played a major role in what he did. Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore

It's two hours of your life best spent on anything else. But some of us are forced to go. Others are masochists. I am wondering if there are any masochists in the forum. -
Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore

Michael Moore's movie finally came out, and I finally saw it. I thought it would be two hours of agony, but it was actually pretty laughable. I tallied every factual error and epistemological fallacy I found (so as to actually get something intellectual out of it), and came up with well over 100. Did anyone else see it? -
Ah, I thought it was on the post-combat screen. Anyways, I can't figure out which battle I participated in earlier today, I thought it was the region I lived in anyway. So I'll have to wait until tomorrow I suppose.

Am I the only one in Norway with no hospital? It doesn't show up after the battle screen.

That would be Kira Peikoff.

Violin cover of SOAD "Toxicity". Not a huge fan of SOAD, but I really liked this cover.

Short Review of Peikoff's Long "History of Philosophy" S

As I read your review, and a description of "History of Philosophy", I was eager to try and take this course. And then I saw the price... Expletives were said. Maybe I'll go for it when I'm sitting on more money. -

Yeah, it wasn't totally unexpected. -

I go to a school that is in its first year of operation, and was supposed to be like a charter school, so I can work at a faster pace. It turns out that it isn't nearly as intellectual as any of us had planned, quite the contrary. In any case, I'm in grade 11, although all people from all grades are grouped together. I am the one of the only other two intelligent people there. It's not really for any class in specific, it's just to make us think, supposedly. I've known the owner for a few years, and am pretty good friends with her, but she's a big fan of Noam Chomsky. -

I just found out that I'm being dragged along to watch it for school. I'm going to take notes and argue against it. Should be like shooting fish in a barrel. -

Mmm, these might just prove to be great films. -
Even though I wouldn't call Starship Troopers dystopian, it's definitely worth a read. Also, on the list, already discussed and undiscussed, is The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A Heinlein. Surprised nobody recommended that one yet. 1984 by George Orwell We The Living/Anthem/Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand of course. The Fountainhead was good, but it didn't come across to me as totally bad enough to be a dystopian, although it definitely had a "Man vs. Society" theme. It goes up there with Starship Troopers.

I wonder if that lady was studying "Women's Studies". They seem to think that's as valid a science as microbiology or nuclear physics.

Bill Kristol is a moron.

Well at least now we won't have that whole "who's worse?" argument once they merge into one giant pile of horrible.

Don't waste your time with it. The entire page is a poorly-written smear-job.

It describes all religions. Plain and simple.
