  • Biography/Intro
New to Objectivism. In short, I am in search of knowledge. I have been defending capitalism on a pragmatic level, I have found again and again that it does not seem to be enough for people. Perhaps this will help.

  1. I'm pretty new to objectivism; but such a position as yours seems absolutely counter to what objectivism is. The items you list above can be used to justify intrusion and confiscation of individual property on a multitude of levels. For example you say Tax dollars are used to educate doctors; but one can also say that since tax dollars are used to educate school children in Canada; those children's earnings as adults can be taxed at 80% heck even 99% to ensure that their neighbors have free healthcare, heating oil, food, clothing, cars, the list goes on. This response is getting much longer than I intended, but you get the drift. whew.
  2. Hi everyone, I am glad to be here. Stumbled upon Objectivism on Youtube, that Yaron Brook guy is all over the place. However, he has great arguments that I agree with. I am a big believer in Capitalism and Freedom. I started off as a Democrat in High School, by college I became increasingly conservative, whatever that means. To me it means fiscal conservative. So I tend to vote republican. Increasingly I have found that both parties are for the most part, THE SAME! Dems want bigger government now, Republicans want big government as well but slower, and on their terms. I'm not on board with this, we know where that will lead us. SO once again I am changing my politics, hopefully for the last time. I am now officially a Capitalist. My goal as I wade through Objectivism and absorb as much knowledge as I can: is to find great arguments for that "link" between morality and capitalism. Yaron is correct, the economics is totally on our side. It is the moral debate that we must win. It is the moral argument that will ultimately carry the day. So, if you are still reading (thank you) and I look forward to interacting and reading as much as I can to find that "link" and acquire great arguments to advance our movement.
