The crimes were committed without reason or motive. They didn't take their money, they weren't looking for ransoms, they were just killing people because they were nihilists and held no value of human life. Even more depraved is the fact that they video-taped many of the killings, where they can be seen laughing and joking as they beat people to death with pipes and stab them with tools. We should start demanding a whole lot more of it from the time real "kids" are old enough to understand the concept of "mine".
