My awesome introduction

Greetings!

I'm one of those people that's been an objectivist all along without knowing it or being able to justify it. I'm sure there are some of you reading this that recognize what I'm describing. Especially from where I come, one is discouraged to feel proudness about ones values. I never approved of that ideal.

Now I've found this forum and the nice people in the chat room and I've decided to stay for a while, hence the introduction.

What really brought me into Rand's works was, strange as it might be, pick-up theory. The study of seduction resonates alot with Ayn's image of the 'perfect man', and Atlas Shrugged was a common recommendation on pick up forums. By applying the moral code of self-worth I also had a lot of success with women. The realization that a philosophy really could have real-world use me made me a firm believer in objectivism.

A little about myself: I'm 26 years old and I live in Stockholm, Sweden, where I study my 2nd year at a masters programme in environmental science. I have a bachelor in geography as the major subject and economics and political science as minor subjects. This autumn I'll write my master paper and I'm looking forward to using my philosophy for that purpose. It will perhaps prove its worth once again.

I also like fishing and cooking. :)

Thanks for a great site!

Yep - 'twas atheism, engineering and a general pro-business attitude in me for years before I discovered Objectivism.

Welcome to the forum! I would like to ask you about the Universities in Sweden and student's life: Is it a high level of education? Have students any part-time job employment opportunities?
