ramKatori
The man who pointed a laser at a couple of planes is being charged under Patriot Act. Recently, the US government has been discussing the idea of keeping individuals in prison for life without any due process. While I support the "war on terror" in general and the war in Iraq in particular, I do fear the Patriot Act (like any discretionary power given to government) will eventually be abused -- it is only a question of time. McGroarty
Does anyone know if the government has a working definition of "terrorist?" I'm not so upset by the law as I am by confusion over what the government thinks a terrorist is.
AwakeAndFree
A government should never have to power to incarcerate for life without a trial. There's no question it is a gross violation of individual rights. The only exception is prisoners of war, but by definition those are caught on a battlefield or a foreign country and not inside the US. And even in this case there should be some kind of due process to determine that they are in fact prisoners of war, i.e. - enemies.
