a poem...

the hero is come to us sent

to rescue from foul bondage

by us in weakness made

when slavery was preferred

to the sweet taste of free air

but the weak do readily prefer

pharoah’s heavy yoke bear

so to us must a hero be sent

it is troth said by some that

we ought have no need of such

rather standing us up against

the empty might of tyrants

we would find ourselves free

as of a sudden a mere blink

but while wanting this thing

we fear to stand up and speak

rather let a hero be sent to us
