  1. Who wouldn't mind living till they were 500 or even 1,000 years old (considering youth was still relatively kept)? There is so much to do in this world, so much to learn that one cannot do in 100 years alone. I wouldn't mind death if our lives were just a little bit longer (compared to the time scale of the universe).
  2. "I am. I think. I will." from Anthem. I'm thinking about getting it tattooed on my back.
  3. Maybe you'll find this helpful: The Dying of the Light Beware however, it wreaks of Kelleyism.
  4. Why doesn't Hawaii just set up state-run gas stations?
  5. Would a first-hander be worried if he 'fit in' or not?
  6. Hi, MightierPen! I am also 16 and plan to be a professional musician after I go through and finish college (unless I turn into Howard Roark! ). Mainly I play electric bass a la Jaco Pastorius and guitar, but I also play trumpet, trombone, and alto sax. What's your favorite type of music? I would say mine is 60's hard bop and fusion.
  7. Good! We have another Sox fan on the forum. I think there are a couple others on this forum too. I was born 'n' raised in Boston so I'm a diehard too!
  8. I've only read "Eye of the World" and "The Great Hunt". I did not find the series to be engaging such as other series like Sword of Truth. If you want GOOD fantasy check out George R. R. Martin's series, "A Song of Ice and Fire". It has a medieval theme with different "Houses" striving for power.
  9. +100 That conversation is the first one that made me think: This is what a REAL individual, a REAL man should be. My favorite quote: Dean: But, who'll let you [build]? Roark: The question is not 'who will let me'. The question is who will stop me.
  10. I always had a problem with the fourth rule: "There is magic in forgiveness." I know when Richard slept with Kahlan in TotW he "betrayed" her because she thought she was sleeping with someone else (complicated to explain). Is Goodkind implying that Richard MUST forgive Kahlan for this?
  11. Why does everybody keep saying that!?!
  12. Yes, this is a very Kantian way to look at Truth. Something is only True if everyone agrees with the statement. If someone disagrees with the statemnt then that "truth" is in fact not true by Kantian standards.
  13. I find most modern (compared to Beethoven, Bach, etc.) Russian composers, Prokoffiev, Rachmaninoff, and Khatchaturian to be really good.
  14. Well, no more Florida Seminoles. Celebrates by starting a pow-wow: "hey yow wow wow, hey yow wow wow!"
  15. As did Peikoff to Kelley. But I think those criticisms were more intellectual and less personal, am I wrong?
  16. Who here thinks that this Rand - Branden thing is a little too melodramatic?
  17. I think it's a good idea. Anybody who's ever went to the forums at terrygoodkind.com know the kind of bs that goes on there. No one hardly understands anything in the book or its deeper meanings...most just take Sword of Truth as pulp fantasy like Robert Jordan.
  18. I love prog rock as well. I have almost all of the albums by Rush and 2112 has got to be one of my favorites! Although the ode to weed (Passage to Bangkok) doesn't really seem to fit in the album. Yes is my favorite prog band. Tales from Topographic Oceans and Relayer are my favorite albums from them.
  19. I'm 16 (17 on Aug 27) and am also a musician who's favorite genre of music is fusion. I play guitar, bass, drum kit, and trumpet. My goal in life is to become a professional musician.
  20. We the Living was my first Ayn Rand book. I read it last summer. Even if Kira stayed in Russia without going to the Gulag a la Leo Kovalensky, she was still dead. Andrei's death was inevitable. P.S. Romantic Warrior, I love your avatar. Return to Forever is great, but personally I think Mahavishnu Orchestra is superior.
