  1. http://www.physorg.com/news145793709.html The Supreme Court recently ruled that it is OK for the Navy to use ultra-low frequency sonar even though it may harm/kill small numbers of marine mammals such as dolphins and whales. This type of sonar is basically the only defense against diesel-electric submarines, which our favorite dictators in North Korea and Iran seem to have gotten their hands on. Viros have been clamoring to ban the Navy's use of sonar for training exercises because apparently to them the chance of killing a handful of whales takes priority over the chance of having a nuke launched at Los Angeles from several miles off shore. I am glad to see that for once the U.S. has put human rights and the safety of civilians before the rights of animals.
  2. We should start a viral thing where we slip things like that into as many non-Objectivist related sites as we can
  3. Grab your glocks when you see Barack Call the cops when you see Barack
  4. http://www.sltrib.com/Utah/ci_10912220?source=rv Apparently this is not only going on in Utah but all over the country. Frankly I'm kinda glad, and somewhat inspired that so many people fear the Obama machine as they should, rather than embracing it. There's a pair of Romanian WASR's at the pawn shop down the street, I'd be all over them if it was legal for me to buy one.
  5. I have to say I accept slight responsibility. I go to a massively pro-bama college in the bluest part of Ohio, and even though I fought them tooth and nail and gave big speeches and even gave out a few copies of AS, I hardly think I changed anyone's mind. One man cannot stand against one thousand, no matter what his intellectual arsenal. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing, I guess. Lying to the government about how much I make in tips and have them think I'm a lowly delivery guy who's barely scraping by, and accumulating a large amount of money and hiding it well. He can't steal what he doesn't know about. Hopefully by the time I have enough to start my business, we'll be back to a Capitalist country.
  6. Saying the free market failed is like beating the living hell out of a football team's star players before the match, then after they lose calling the team a failure. They didn't fail, people like you stopped them from ever being able to play.
  7. Pres: McCain Reasoning: Gridlock, and Republicans are easier to fight against since everyone already hates them. I don't forsee any of their religious motives leaking into State constitutions, worst case scenario things stay as they are. House: Tim McNeil, Libertarian. Reasoning: lesser of the evils, might actually do some good Senate: Generic Republican Reasoning: The other choice was Generic Democrat
  8. http://newsmax.com/insidecover/obama_credi.../27/144683.html Apparently Obama's website allows just about anyone to donate money, regardless of whether or not they actually exist.
  9. Maybe, but I'm the one who lives in a poor black neighborhood. If McCain gets elected I'll get assassinated!
  10. Ah, sorry. It's just a funny image macro I stumbled upon a while back, which I think is quite appropriate given the topic.
  11. I don't see why you're speaking as if only one company would produce all the weapons. The U.S. military currently gets it's rifles, planes, tanks, etc from differing companies that vie for the business of the military. This creates competition which spawns ingenuity (ex: a gun that can see around corners) and efficiency (caseless ammunition) in products. If one nationalized industry made all the military technology they would have nobody to out-do but themselves, and no motivation for doing so other than to please the government. Why would Colt bother inventing and rolling out the M4A2 if they knew there was a guarantee that the U.S. gov't would continue buying and using the M4A1, since they had no other options? Having one industry in your pocket making everything for you means that industry will grow stagnant and stale.

  13. 7 months ago Hawaii installed a Universal Health Care system for children only. It recently got so horribly bad that they had to do away with it completely. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081017/ap_on_...d_health_hawaii "People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free," said Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services. "I don't believe that was the intent of the program." <- Got a real genius here, folks! It's nice watching socialized industries bite the big one.
  14. I think this particular movement of the Tedesco Concerto describes me an awful lot.
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMUMxK504hk Check it out, feel free to leave feedback I'm currently working on another piece which is kind of the "sequel" to this one, so I'll keep you posted if you happened to like this one.
  16. I feel the same way, I especially think more efficiently while driving.
  17. No, they've also got Detroit! The shining pinnacle of the glorious welfare state!
  18. I guess the easiest and most effective way to answer that question is with another question: What is the point of not living?
  19. Yet another silly attempt by PETA at bringing us down and raising up the animals, trying to make it look like people are equal to cows. Let the PETArds eat up their human ice cream and enjoy the Mono, Influenza, and HIV they get from ingesting the body fluids of complete strangers. What a victory for common sense!
  20. If anyone's ever played an old game called Starsiege, they've heard some of the best music composed for a game. Also I like the music in the Rainbow Six series, it's usually pretty cool metal riffs that get stuck in your head. Kinda strange to have metal music with the stealthy nature of those games though
  21. Like you said they do seem pretty bi-partisan, afraid to step on anyone's shoes. They also appear mostly focused on ideas rather than the means to implement them, but I suppose it's better than nothing. They aren't Objectivists by far, but it's nice to see more and more people starting to call out the government on all it's bullshit.
  22. Most dogs also just bark at strangers. The guy could have been perceived as a threat to the dog for a million reasons. Territory, male dominance, hell maybe the guy just had bacon for breakfast and the dog could still smell it on his breath. Maybe the guy owns a cat and therefore smells like one. Using the dog's reaction of "barking at a guy" as any kind of credible source for murder investigation is morbidly retarded and wouldn't even fly on one of those crappy CSI-ripoff shows.
  23. Hey guys, look how "progressive" we're being! Now we have special courts for Muslims so they can beat their wives and get away with it, just like in backwards third-world countries!
