  1. Yeah, I read that one too. I believe that the town was originally serviced by the sheriff, but a "grant" developed and funded the police department. Federal grant? Other people's money? Nice that it's working so well.
  2. I'm trying to recognize your facts when above you use words like "evident reality", "tough time", "apt"... I know people that sabotage relationships that didn't come from abusive households.
  3. Wow, that was pretty amazing... I guess since he "knows someone", he must be more rational. Obviously, very qualified to make choices for others.
  4. Definitely predisposed? You have data? What about just knowing someone that is gay? Would that predispose someone to a gay "try out"? What if gay individuals need your services or the services of your company? Would you refuse them service or goods, value for value?
  5. And what force are you going to use to enforce the decisions when action is taken against individuals for "violating" "consumption" or "renewal" of the resources? Who's making the decisions against those minorities? You?
  6. Yeah, I saw that too. It is "donating", but I can't say that I know more details.
  7. Which is it? An issue or a matter of concern. And who is developing those standards? My lake is of my interest. Why are you concerned about it?
  8. Is it necessary Objectively? Seems like you'd want to move someplace that you wouldn't need to start a war.
  9. Do you enter the world with skills and resources? Seems like it makes for a good game if one wants to play.
  10. Seems to follow if one rationally makes that decision to get a tattoo rather pay someone to do the work with a Sharpie. As for homosexuality and what Rand has state, I believe it comes down to the rational functioning of the human body. But what one does in one's bedroom is one's choice regardless of that function as long as their is no act of force, thus, no reason for government involvement.
  11. Ok, how many thousands of years have humans been eating fish with no regard for "sustainability"? Certainly the population of humans has increased too. Are we out?
  12. I dunno. I imagine you let the kid next door mow the lawn using your lawn mower because he has mowing skills. I'm just pointing out the obvious. He was certainly not born with mowing skills.
  13. Is the a political party for Objectivists?
  14. Yup, because lawn mowers can be picked up for free. Gas too.
  15. So, then you're saying that everything has to do with politics because not everything should have to do with politics?
  16. -Able to withstand great strain without tearing or breaking; strong and resilient: a tough all-weather fabric. -Hard to cut or chew: tough meat. -Physically hardy; rugged: tough mountaineers; a tough cop. -Strong-minded; resolute: a tough negotiator. -Slang Unfortunate; too bad: a tough break. -Slang Fine; great It must be "unfortunate;too bad: a tough break" as you advocate for people's ability to rule over individuals below... Religion: A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
  17. In real life, you need resources and/or skills to start your own business. Seems like being an employee, going into politics, and so on allow the player to develop resources and/or skills.
  18. Solar hot water was quoted at about $15,000. Given that we use about $25 of natural gas a month last year, and that's really only our hot water as we use a pellet stove for heat, it would take me 50 years just to break even based on a very, very simple outlook. Yeah, I think PV has came a long way, and, I agree, conventional energy is cheap.
  19. The other side is the cost of solar. If it was a one time cost that I might wish to risk, it might be valuable, but the only way I would be able to accomplish it would be via another mortgage with the risks and costs of that. Yes, we could talk about the possibility of better resale. However, my wife's parents have a solar envelope house from the early 80's. Hasn't delivered, and there's no real possibility of better resale on it based on others that made that choice in the area either. I'm not saying solar might not have a better future, but at this time, it's just not valuable to me as a rational choice for self-sufficiency or a reduction in expenses. I continue to read and look at it, but I'd probably be better off financially with a 30 acre canola field and a lister engine running a generator.
  20. Ah, so "tough" is supposed to mean what exactly. And you state "those of us", who is that? And you "believe"...so, I am required to be a part of your religion, why? You were the one that ambiguously stated "a bit". I can't help your part of the conversation when you're very vague. You stated "those of us who believe", so you must have something of an ideology rather than facts that I may choose to use or not use voluntarily.
  21. Well, why are you making a decision that others are not planning ahead for their independent lives? And what authority do you have over other's lives? A bit more thoughtful? Can you define "a bit"? Seriously. So, your ideology must be adopted based on your "bits" and "sustainability". What standards do you have for those and how do you enforce those upon yourself and then others?
  22. Already looked at quotes for using solar at home. I work, and that work can be converted into solar panels to produce power for my family and I at home to replace some to all of the electricity that we use. If my electric bills double under Cap & Trade, I still cannot justify solar as it consumes more work than the work that they would ever return to me and my family.
  23. I'm in...in the process. David Onsor
  24. LOL! What's the prefered country today?
