Daniellecs reacted to SapereAude in Funny Games
I personally enjoy the genre of "difficult to watch" movies. Haneke is a skilled filmmaker although I find his politics loathesome.

A very interesting thing about the Funny Games original and remake is to note the differences in tone despite being reshot frame for frame. Most remarkably- the husband is played differently (again, just in style- the substance is all the same) in the American remake. My personal theory on this is that American audiences would be unlikley to be sympathetic to such a weak man as portrayed in the original.

If you like Haneke I would suggest Gaspar Noe's Irreversible and Lars Von Trier's Antichrist.

Daniellecs got a reaction from Myself in Adobe Premiere Pro?
Well I downloaded it because I felt like working on my editing skills, and just to experiment with videos, as I have more free time at the moment and it wouldnt hurt to get new things to my portfolio.

Anyways... for some odd reasons, any video I try to import, that works perfectly fine anywhere else will have problems on premier.

[some videos will show only one frame, or 3 frames, some videos will FF 10 minutes in 50 seconds [when I change the duration or speed it just look very bad] some videos will show one corner of one frame...] while the sound is perfect.

If anyone works on Premiere, please help - if I need to fix something about the settings or just to download it all over again....

    Thanks

    BTW - Its pro CS4

Daniellecs reacted to HolyLandMan in Serving in the Israeli Army
I currently serve in the IDF as a frontline soldier & rescue squad. Soon I'll also be a squad commander.
From a young age I always wanted to serve the most I can... Serving in the IDF is a culture in Israel... even though only 47% of the population really serves, and only 10%-20% serve fronline (="Kravi") soldiers.
Serving as "Kravi" frontline soldier is a wanted social archetype , especially if you serve in elite unites special forces, or command roles.
Moreover, there is a negative social pressure against individuals who don't serve "Mishtamtim".

So serving in the IDF is moral and to your rational self interest, especially if you plan living in Israel.
The law of forced army service in Israel is only valid in a crysis situation, which exists in Israel from its first day, more than 63 years.

If you do not want to live in Israel- it is altruisem and not moral to serve in the IDF.

Currently, Israel IS a socialist & semi religious country.
There is a huge protest right now about the fact that It is almost impossible to lead a normal life in Israel...
More than 50% of my parants' salary goes to tax!
The "strong ecconomy" of Israel is held by a VERY small precentage of the population who carry the burden of the rest of Israelis: unitellegent, uneducated (some even violent) "Atillas", religious mystics and "witch doctors".
It could go to one of two direcions- left=socialist welfare state /right=towards freedom and capitalisem.

The reason I serve in the IDF is because my parants will not support me if I won't + I want a jewish state to exist... So it is my choice.
If Israel will move towards a walfare state and not towards capitalisem, I will leave right after I finish army, if not right away.

Hat tip to Robert Campbell, this was on Ebay recently. It doesn’t appear in the Letters of Ayn Rand, I just checked.

“I believe my statement of man’s proper morality does not contradict any religious belief, if that belief includes faith in man’s free will.”
    Ayn Rand, October 23, 1943

Daniellecs got a reaction from Prometheus98876 in Atlas Shrugged cast
A movie doesnt need a big budget in order to be good.
A movie need a good script, good actors and a good director.
It seems like no one of these actors could actually act, and no one on the set read Atlas Shrugged.
This movie was lack of talent, creativity and abilities, which makes me very sad. The person that wrote the script obviously doesnt know how to turn thoughts to actions, picture and sound, he probably have nothing to do to cinema language which makes me sad. I'd love to make my own version one day.

I think that Javier is sexy enough and it's possible to work on his accent, I don't think it's that bad. In the movie, it's fine to have the slight accent.

Sam Rockwell... I think he is too young and pretty, to be James. I thought more of alec baldwin =] his lyfe syle and the way he acts could easily suit both James and Guy Francon.

and you are right, it's Christian BALE. I checked it on IMDB

Daniellecs got a reaction from D'kian in The killing of characters
Forget about Kira, the bitch was way too annoying, I was happy she died, but when Andrei died, I cried and didn't want to finish the book for a month.
Everytime I read that book it makes me sad.
