Captain Nate
Pancho, World War I and World War II are names for specific wars. Prior to there being a World War II, there was no World War I--it was called "The Great War." If we're numbering wars, rather than naming them, and basing the numerics on how many wars were global in scope, then the French & Indian War (Seven Years War), and the American War for Independence would probably be among the first world wars as they were the first to include both hemispheres and all the major powers. All though, I am inclined to describe the Cold War & the War on terror as "World Wars." Edited September 24, 2005 by Captain Nate
