brian0918
I'm currently reading The Republic, and found this bit from Book 4 to be relevant today. Regarding regulators of the economy: Surely people like this are the most entertaining of all, passing and amending laws in the constant belief that they will find an answer to dishonesty in business dealings. They don't realize they are cutting off the Hydra's head. He also makes a familiar comparison: What a delightful life those people lead! Their medical treatment achieves nothing, except to increase the complications and severity of their ailments, yet they live in constant hope that each new medicine recommended will be the one which will make them healthy. Pete Caya
Ah, The Republic. One of the best books I have ever read. It's amazing how relevant a book that is more than two thousand years old is today.
