softwareNerd Posted August 3, 2009 Report Share Posted August 3, 2009 The whole "creationist" versus "scientist" twist is spin, and was of no relevance to the judge's decision. Basically, there was an argument by people who had been drinking heavily. A little later, when the accused had a knife in his hand that he was using on a can of sardines, the victim approached and the quarrel renewed. That escalated into a physical fight, while the accused still had the knife. The judge said that it was not clear to him is the offender stabbed the other aggressively, or defensively (albiet using excessive force in that defense). Anyhow, one might agree or disagree with the judge's ruling (check here). He took various factors into coming up with the short sentence, but creationism was not one of the factors.
