iflyboats
I've seen Rand use the phrase "me-tooism" and wonder what exactly she means by that. Can anyone explain?
Steve D'Ippolito
In a political context, it comes when someone doesn't hold to a set of principals and is willing to go along and compromise with the opposition a bit too much. Specifically she was blasting the Republican party and the "Conservatives" for responding to a left/liberal/Democrat proposal by offering up the same sort of proposal but with less in it--a tacit admission that their ultimate goal was the same, they just wanted to take less drastic steps to get there. This confuses a principled person (or one who expects others to be principled)--should not one pursue what one believes to be good as hard as one can, instead of *deliberately* holding back? Anyway for all the rhetoric that Republicans have spewed about being pro-free-enterprise and wanting smaller government, in the end they've accomplished neither and merely went the other way more slowly than the Democrats. (The Tea Party may be an indication that this is going to change--I am not terribly optimistic about that though.)
