  1. Like boiling a huge freaking lobster! George the giant lobster liberated from restaurant
  2. Top Gear is a great show and Jeremy Clarkson has been an outspoken critic of MMGW for years. For anyone who hasn't seen it I recommend watching it on BBC America sometime.
  3. At least the Bush administration left the country so far in debt that a liberal government will be hard pressed to issue further social programs.
  4. I’m afraid I must disagree. Ten years ago I would have agreed but not now. To me it seems the wind has been taken out of the Religious Right’s sails. Today, especially among youth there seems to be a disregard for religion especially in the John Stewart set that seems to make fun at every opportunity. In the universities and in the press religion seems to be associated with the “ignorant American’ image. You list Huckabee as a threat but he couldn’t even get his own parties nomination let alone sway other voters. Look at the movie Religoulous religion is openly mocked as well as viewed as being out of touch. I see socialism and Environmentalism as the new threat both of which run on the same principles of Religion. Abortion and school prayer are no longer the major issues. We live in a day were the Government is here and now nationalizing businesses and CEO’s and Wall street are viewed as villains in the press and the biggest issues of the election are nationalized medicine and caps on carbon emission. All these things will effect me here and now and well into the future. This is the way I see it. However, knowing David he will come back with some compelling augment that will change my mind. So what do you think?
  5. Same here. I've decided that Pragmatism isn't worth my vote.
  6. Has his cousin Aila Odinga the Muslim extremist who recently lost the Kenyan Presidential election to a Christian not visited with him in both Illinois and Kenya? Does his brother Bongo not preaches that the “Black man must liberate himself from the poisons of European cultures and western values” "? Does he not belong to Obama belong’s to the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. Here is their own church statement : Did he not attend" god damn America wrights" services and even name his books after one of sermons? Did he not write in his most recent book, The Audacity of Hope: "Affirmative action programs, when properly structured, can open up opportunities? Was he not the principal sponsor of the Global Poverty Act of 2007 (S.2433)? Has he not pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050 by creating a market-based cap-and-trade system on his own site? In 1996, during Obama's run for the Illinois State Senate did his questionnaire not show that he supported a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Did he not declare in July 2008, that if elected president he would expand the delivery of social services through churches and other religious organizations, vowing to achieve what he said President Bush had fallen short on? On his own website did he not state that he wants "all middle and high school students to perform 50 hours of community service per year." LOOK AT IT! Face the facts, they are not just someone else's opinion! Don't give me "well McCain is worse BS" you can't defend him by attacking McCain. He has a radical background supports forced service, environmentalist carbon trades, gun control, affirmative action, government sponsored faith initiatives, and his past is surrounded by radical Islam both friends and family. I did I miss anything? I know I have but I'm not going to wast anymore of my time looking for it to argue pseudo Objectivist goose stepping to Obama's tune.
  7. One of the most underrated movie I've ever seen has to be an old James Cagney comedy "One, Two, Three". Its about a Coca Cola executive in west Berlin during the height of the cold war. Most of the jokes are about how inept USSR is. Its extremely fast paced and at times dizzying, made in the days when they still made smart comedies. Its one of the movies were every time I see it I catch a new joke. Here are some great quotes:
  8. No, he implied that she's going to get really fat! Thats what I wonderd as well. Obviously jumping on the winning side to see what he can get out of it.
  9. What the hell? How is it that you attack the candidate that criticizes socialism and then go on and complement the guy who openly promotes Marxist ideas!? So what? What’s that make him an honest thief? I am astounded that so many Objectivist have been critical of McCain’s attack of the “spread the wealth” remark. I know he himself has socialized ideas but in an election that has amounted to a pile a manure a critical remark about socialism should be meet with applause and encouragement, not with sarcastic jeers and increased criticism. At least McCain has enough sense to recognize that socialism is not a virtue but something to be critical of.
  10. I previously stated that I would vote for McCain in a previous thread because I felt that Obama was the greater threat. I still believe this, however in light of recent events (the bailout ect.) I’ve decided abstained instead. Not that my vote would have counted for much anyways, Obama will easily take Washington; damn hippies. I think Obama will win and will go on to be the worse president since FDR. I sometimes wish I were alive at a different time.
  11. Reality Realty It has a nice ring to it. Plus the double "R's" would make a nice logo.
  12. I’m interested in what others think of this article from the Hawaii Reporter Welcome to The Socialist Union of Ameri-EU". In the article the author claims that with the bailout that congress has gone too far and even suggests that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed be jailed!! I don’t completely agree with everything he says, however it is refreshing to hear some outrage over the last couple of weeks and see someone stand up for liberty in the press.
  13. I disagree. Remember there is no such thing as moral principle, every occasion should be judged by its situation. I happen to know this mans wife and the woman is a saint. She feeds orphans and houses the homeless. She needs this kidney more than you do. Sure stealing the kidney was wrong, but look at the outcome. A good and caring woman lives and so do you. So what’s the harm? After all you do have two of them. Not only do I think her husband should not be punished but he should be commended; because of the desperation of his emotional state he did something very daring and brave. As for you sir, your greedy attitude is discerning. The problem with you is that you have no heart....No really, because we took that too. The fact that your even able to type is a miracle!
  14. The WSJ, local papers, a few websites and google news for specific subjects. Oh yea, and tea leaves.
  15. The Steelers looked like they were getting man handled through most of the game. I think the Ravens lost due to mental error. I have to say the Steelers didn't win this game the Ravens lost it. I just glad my Seachickens got its receiving core back for the first time this season along with or key positions. Its like Christmas in Seattle.
  16. Damn, you stole my line! But on the other side of the coin, from reading your post Objectivism has had a impact on your life. So how can you say it failed. So what do you want, a pony too?
  17. The numbers I was using were five years old . I figured it was probably more now. I met a guy once who worked on an oil rig in Norway and said if he works overtime he has to pay 60% of it in taxes. I couldn't find anything documenting this though. Perhaps JMartins could enlighten us.
  18. Oh, yea! Then why is there only 4 million people there! Appearently the same amount of people want to live in Alabama. If you call a 32% income tax and a 25% sales tax quality of life then I have a lovely time share in North Korea you might be interested in. With their state being maintained by nationalized oil and gas and a useless monarch running about spending your money; Norway, is like the Saudi Arabia of Europe. As for the girls I'd rather just go to Latvia, who not only has gorgeous women but the most lopsided female to male ratio in the world (CIA Fact book). Here is a funny article I found: Norway Forgets Who They're Dealing With, Demands Apple Open Up FairPlay DRM (Again) Bold mine
  19. Oh, no not Norway! With their massive market of 4.6 million how will Apple cope? Were talking about a country who’s GDP ranks up there with…Arizona! Not to sound to much like Bill Maher but lets make a new rule: If your GDP isn’t equal to Wal-Mart’s you are in no economic position to make ultimatums. In the words of a previous Mad Men episode; “I laugh at you [Norway], every morning I wake up and I laugh at you!".
  20. One thing I like to do daily is type Ayn Rand into Google news and see what is in the news. If there is an article that paints Objectivism in a negitive light, I leave a post defending Objectivism and clear up misconceptions. I think is an easy and good way to get ideas out there.
  21. If you don't like your grocery store with smokers stop shopping there. If there is a large enough market of people like you there will be grocery stores that don't allow it. Many stores banned smoking before the laws.
  22. yeah, isn't it great. Sad but true. Don't count them out them out yet their receiver core comes back for the next game after their bye. They had six receivers injured. Six! You can't run a west coast offense with third string receivers.
  23. Steroids don’t make you a superstar. They do protect you against injury and help in your training. Look at the athletes that are usually caught. There’re always mediocre and usually coming off of an injury. If you stink and take steroids your still going to stink but your just to look better doing it. The drugs are safe as long as they are part of a program and are subscribed and monitored by a doctor and trainers. As for the kids influence that’s the parents responsibility. Why should an adult athlete have his rights taken away because of someone else’s kid? The “Wont somebody please think of the children!” line doesn’t work in Objectivism, your responsible for yourself and your own property including kids.
  24. Well...... Lehman Brothers..... Gone AIG .... Almost gone Washington Mutual.... Teetering Merrill Lynch.....Rescued by BoA This was quite the weekend. We’ve seen buyouts and bankruptcies in what many are calling "the biggest financial story of the past half century." When all the dust has settled there was only two remaining independent Wall Street investment banks left !!! Now is the time for crisis and opportunity or what I like to call “Crisitunity”! On the one hand what a time to buy!! To qoute Warren Buffett: "I will tell you how to become rich. … Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful. The most common cause of low prices is pessimism -- sometimes pervasive, sometimes specific to a company or industry. We want to do business in such an environment, not because we like pessimism but because we like the prices it produces. It's optimism that is the enemy of the rational buyer." Not to mention the government finally let these lame duck banks go down. The market badly needed to clean some bats out of the attic. On the other hand everybody in the press and on wall street at screaming for regulation. All over the press people are saying this is the result of the failure of the free market and lack of oversight. We just cleaned our slate and already these morons are preparing for the next recession. These next few months are going to be very critical. There is another post asking if the ARI is effective; now is the time to see if they are worth their salt. I curious to see what press reports they release and if they can get noticed. Capitalism and free markets are going to need every one of its allies in the coming weeks.
