  1. I remember when I was younger I had this idea that I thought would revolutionize the world. It was wireless electricity. I told my father and he told me about Testla. He also said that at some point he may have invented a machine that could split the world in half if he had not destroyed it. The latter part I think might be a little exaggerated however it was very interesting. Later on I saw a program about Testla and saw his many accomplishments.
  2. I had read a book about Erdos where he mentioned Rumanujan. Either way this is really interesting http://www.atributetohinduism.com/quotes321_340.htm
  3. I saw it and thought it was generally a fun action movie but nothing worth of great recognition. Having said that I may purchase it when it comes out.
  4. The National Federation of Independent Business http://www.nfib.com/page/home They claim to have 600 thousand small business members and that they are a big power as far as lobbying is concerned. I had a man come in and try to basically sell me a membership for $100. I found it funny that he said that there was a plan to increase minimum wage to $9.15 an hour, but that they fought really hard and now it is only going to increase to $7.15 an hour. According to him this was such a great outcome because as he put it, "Why would anyone work for you when they can get $9.15 an hour at Burger King." I think that his claim of success is ridiculous because $9.15/hr is 70%+ increase in the current minimum wage which is a totally unrealistic goal. Except that they will say well be happy that you only got half of that. So he is claiming that they fought down to roughly a 30+% increase. If they were really accomplishing something the increase would not be over .50 cents. Are they just a tool to make the small businessman think that they should be glad-every time that there is some kind of increase to feel as if they got a break when they actually did not-to take the 30+% increase compared to potential 70+% that could have had? Anyone has any experience dealing with this organization?
  5. I have not but I may have heard of it. Is it good?
  6. You should go to your local college book store. There are catalogs at the end of the end caps. They might seem confusing in the beginning but they really are not. They go in alphabetical order. When you find for example physics. Look in the 100's. Then look for the number that matches that text book. Look at the table of contents and skim the book. If it sounds too easy go back to the catalog and look at the 200's and so on. The books range in pricing. Or you could go to the public library and look for introductory books and the like. However, it's easy to get confused in a big library so you might want to speak with the librarian.
  7. An incredible mind bending plot throughout the whole thing. I saw it a year after it came out. What are your opinions?
  8. I performed a small excerpt from "Death of a salesman" in high school. I can't recall the plot at all but I remember having to act out the anger in the excerpt.
  9. I was kidding about the formality. You can call me Hugh or Akston or Dr. Akston which ever you like.
  10. Anyone here ever been called a "randroid" before?
  11. I had a psychology teacher once teach me how to speed read. However she used it more as a way to locate the main sources where my thought process accomplished the task. Later on, I used it for quick and dirty reviews of history in college. I would not entrust it to readings that require your full undivided attention. In other words the making of the paper (full attention) v/s grading or reviewing content that you already have mastered (speed read)
  12. Something funny happened to me the other day. I recently relocated my business to another town. Apparently if you live or operate on that town to most people it seems like you are doing quite well for your self. I was unaware of this however until several people commented on it. The last one to comment on it was a customer that lives down the street. She said that once people move in that town, they never leave. The she asked how I happened to move in. I responded that I saw the sign that it was available and got the place simply because I needed a place to operate and with no other purpose. She said she was one of the newest in town. Funny enough she proceeded to state that she had lived there for 35 years. It is a small town compared to its surrounding neighbors but the people that live there have an air leading more toward the aristocracy of pull. Somehow as if they are better than everyone else just by the fact that they live there. I hope I have the wrong impression. Also I found out that many pesty sales men and women live there. I listen to them not because I want to buy from them but because I want to get to know the people living in town. I had one of them already make an indecent proposal about giving me access to a customer list of a recently beheaded corporation for fraud. Ofcourse he also insinuated I would have to get an account for credit card service from him and hire his son to work for me. I could smell the desperation in this poor shmuck's voice from a mile away. To address your question it would be possible to live in a place that resembles the atlantis, with the right people. They would have to prove themselves many times over ofcourse.
  13. I'm new here too, but to get to the point I am a business man in the rough. There were many things that I had not named but practiced, Ayn Rand named them and more in Atlas Shrugged.
  14. Perhaps you could use that money to double the amount. In which case you have earned it.
  15. You know what's funny? February 3rd is my birthday. So I always remember her on the 2nd. And she died the year I was born.
  16. I found the Anthem book too. I ended up reading it in one sitting not so long ago.
